Today the funeral was held in Beijing for my friend Andrew Moody, a senior reporter on China Daily, who died from a terrible illness a fortnight ago. Andrew was a model of how a Western journalist should conduct himself in China: extremely hard-working, serious, dedicated and, most importantly, hugely respectful of China’s achievements. He wrote many fine articles for the paper. He found a supportive and appreciative home with China Daily. Although he had only been in China for twelve years he chose to die in what he came to think of as his home even though he had spent most of his life in the UK.
