中共中央總書記、國家主席、中央軍委主席習近平在第三次中央新疆工作座談會上強調(diào)，要努力建設新時代中國特色社會主義新疆。習近平表示，全黨要把貫徹新時代黨的治疆方略作為一項政治任務，確保新疆工作始終保持正確政治方向。
President Xi Jinping has called for efforts to build Xinjiang featuring socialism with Chinese characteristics in the new era. Xi, also general secretary of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee and chairman of the Central Military Commission, made the remarks at the third central symposium on work related to Xinjiang. He demanded the entire Party make implementing the Party's Xinjiang policies in the new era a political task, always maintaining the correct political orientation of the work related to Xinjiang.

第二次中央新疆工作座談會以來，經(jīng)過各方面艱辛努力，新疆工作取得了重大成效。新疆經(jīng)濟社會發(fā)展和民生改善取得了前所未有的成就，各族群眾的獲得感、幸福感、安全感不斷增強。一是經(jīng)濟發(fā)展持續(xù)向好。2014年至2019年，新疆地區(qū)生產(chǎn)總值由9195.9億元增長到13597.1億元，年均增長7.2%。二是人民生活明顯改善。2014年至2019年，新疆居民人均可支配收入年均增長9.1%。三是脫貧攻堅取得決定性成就。截至2019年，全疆累計脫貧292.32萬人、退出3107個貧困村、摘帽22個貧困縣，貧困發(fā)生率由2014年的19.4%降至1.24%。總的看，新疆呈現(xiàn)出社會穩(wěn)定、人民安居樂業(yè)的良好局面，為邁向長治久安奠定了堅實基礎。事實充分證明，我國民族工作做得是成功的。
黨的十八大以來，黨中央深化對治疆規(guī)律的認識和把握，形成了新時代黨的治疆方略，堅持從戰(zhàn)略上審視和謀劃新疆工作，堅持把社會穩(wěn)定和長治久安作為新疆工作總目標，堅持以凝聚人心為根本，堅持鑄牢中華民族共同體意識，堅持我國宗教中國化方向，堅持弘揚和培育社會主義核心價值觀，堅持緊貼民生推動高質(zhì)量發(fā)展，堅持加強黨對新疆工作的領導。實踐證明，新時代黨的治疆方略完全正確，必須長期堅持。
